The project aims to provide composting and heat recovery in rural areas. The project is part of the Proof of Concept REEF grant provided by the Scottish Government.
Electrical Engineering student, Charles Chitseko, explains that whilst many students at the Polytechnic have great ideas, often taken from the internet, there are few mechanisms in place to help develop and fund such research and entrepreneurship.
Fellow team member Francis Masi explains that without the Scottish Government, it is unlikely projects would be able to go ahead. The group agrees that there is more untapped potential among the wider student body and general willingness to try and improve the situation for Malawians.
The MREAP team will hopefully meet up with team during the visit in April 2014 to catch up on progress and new developments.
